Live ectopic gestation

Imaging of live ectopic pregnancy
Ectopic pregnancy is a common finding with the use of ultrasound imaging. However it is still rare to find a live ectopic gestation. In this case the left fallopian tube shows an embryo with cardiac activity recorded on spectral Doppler.

polycystic ovaries with marked enlargement

This young woman has markedly enlarged ovaries with ovarian volume well in excess of normal measurements. The follicles are all less than 10 mm. in size. All features suggesting classic Polycystic ovary disease or PCOD as it is also known.

ductus venosus attempt in a patient who won't cooperate

What happens when we attempt duplex ultrasound imaging of the ductus venosus in a 3rd trimester pregnancy who just cant hold her breath?
These images tell the story:

During cessation of respiration (breath holding):

Observe the nice tracing/ waveform

And when the patient continues respiratory activity:

 

Note the interruption of the waveform. Possibly the sampling gate has shifted to another nearby vessel.
