Note the inhomogenous echotexture of the prostate, with some hyperechoic area in the left side of the inner gland s/o chronic prostatitis. The patient was a young man with history of chronic dysuria and lower abdominal pain.
On sagittal section, the structures can be traced anteriorly and inferiorly.. definitely not the ureters.
Oblique transverse sections show the vessels communicating with their counterpart from the other side. Obviously these are vessels, most likely to be the periprostatic venous plexus.
The periprostatic veins communicating freely anterior to the prostate.
Diagnosis: prostatitis with dilatated periprostatic veins.

ReplyDeletefor the last two years i feel pain in my prostate area..after ejaculation i feel sharp pain in there and that area swell very badly and the pain last for at least two hours ....my doctor give me three test:
1. Urine routine and urine culture
2. Semen Culture
3. Trans-rectal Usg
---------In urine routine and urine culture results are negative but in semen culture it shows growth of Staphylococcus aureus
and in usg trans-rectal report is
PROSTATE IS NORMAL SIZE, OUTLINE AND ECHOTEXTURE. PROSTATE MEASURES 4.9X3.8X2.3CM AND WEIGHT = 23 GMS.
NO FOCAL SOL
SEMINAL VESICLES ARE NORMAL
ENGORGED PERIPROSTATIC VENOUS PLEXUS IS NOTED
IMPRESSION:
---PROMINENT, DILATED PERIPROSTATIC VENOUS PLEXUS
---NO EVIDENCE OF PROSTATIC OR SEMINAL VESICLE ABSCESS
-------------- I just want to know, is this report is normal in this age or i need to worry.....and if it is wrong should i have to change my daily routine...any exercise i should follow or need to change in my daily food and drink....some other tests i should go for just to be sure....or any thing else

Hi, please consult a urologist. You appear to be suffering from prostatitis. This is an infection of the prostate. It can be corrected with a course of antibiotics.
