Ultrasound images of retrosternal goiter

Xray images show a large rounded opacity in the upper mediastinum.

Ultrasound images of the thyroid show a huge gland, with inhomogenous appearance and calcification, extending to the retrosternal region. The thyroid measures more than 5 x 8 cms. These images by Mr. Shlomo Gobi of Israel were taken using the endocavity probe to better visualize the retrosternal extension of the thyroid goiter. Xray images show the goiter in the retrosternal region. You can view more such intersting ultrasound images of thyroid diseases at:

Interesting ultrasound images of the thyroid:

I have added some really nice sonographic images of the thyroid in my ultrasound image gallery.
See: http://www.ultrasound-images.com/thyroid.htm Among the cases (and ultrasound pictures) I have discussed here are: 1) multinodular goitre 2) Hashimoto's thyroiditis 3) thyrotoxicosis 4) hemithyroidectomy 5) sublingual thyroid. The last is a rare enitity and I have added 6 high res. images of this lesion.
Hashimoto's thyroiditis is a common condition that afflicts a large percentage of the populace here in S. India.
